Mission Statement

At Future Coaches, our mission is to provide a fun, safe, and nurturing environment where boys and girls ages 4 to 10 can learn the fundamentals of basketball. Through engaging practices and games, we focus on skill development, sportsmanship, and team building, while planting the seeds of confidence and character in every child.

Our teams are guided by high-character high school young men and women, who not only teach the game but also serve as positive role models, inspiring the next generation both on and off the court.

Under the leadership of League Director Rodney W. Burruss Sr., Future Coaches is committed to building a foundation that emphasizes growth, respect, and a love for the game—one bounce at a time.

Meet our teen coaches

Param Patel

I've been playing basketball for fun since I was 1 year old, just in my backyard and then for the first time playing organized basketball, at Odyssey Charter. I will be pursuing a college degree in Business and Marketing. I joined Futures Coaches 302 to get a better perspective of the coaching side of basketball as I believe this can be a valuable skill in life especially when working with other people. From teaching the youth the game of basketball, I can provide the knowledge of the game that i have and it can really look good on my college resume also.

Nasir Davis

I have been playing basketball for 6 years and I hope to continue playing at the college level. Maybe even playing overseas after college is completed. I wanna spread the love of the game of basketball and share my enjoyment of it. Hopefully I can inspire other kids to do something great in the world as well.

Gian Wong

I've been playing basketball since I was about 3-4 years old. I will be entering my 4th year at Odyssey Charter playing all 4 years at the varsity level. My career goals are to graduate college with a nursing degree. I joined Future Coaches 302 because I would love to see how happy the kids are playing the game of basketball hoping that they fall in love with it just like I did.

Daniel Ezeogu

I've been playing organized basketball for 5 years now but loved the game much longer. My future plans include becoming an Entrepeneur. I plan on attending college after high school to pursue a masters degree in finance. I want to experience the coaching side of basketball to better enhance my leadership and teamwork skills.

Hi, My name is Rafael and I'm going into the 11th grade at Odyssey Charter School. Basketball has always meant a lot to me. It has helped me stay focused, make great friends and grow as a person. I plan to go to college and study something in the STEM field after high school. This is a great opportunity and I'm really looking forward to it.

I’m a rising senior from Odyssey Charter High-school, where I’ve been playing basketball for the last three years. I’ve loved the game of basketball ever since I was a little kid and my parents gave me my first ball. I’m a dedicated student of the game and enjoy all aspects of the sport. I plan to continue my education in college. I look forward to being able to help younger children develop their skills and knowledge of the game.

CEO and Director of Future Coaches 302, dedicated to developing tomorrow’s leaders in sports and mentorship. He began his career with four years of coaching and mentoring at Kuumba Academy Charter School, then guided the Girls Varsity basketball program at Delaware Academy of Public Safety and Security for three seasons. For the past eight years, he has served as the Boys Varsity Head Basketball Coach at Odyssey Charter School, where his blend of discipline, passion, and player development has left a lasting impact on countless student‑athletes.

"aka MiMi", I work for Habitat for Humanity NCC as a Project Manager of Repairs. I’m a mother of two daughters Alexis and D’yon and two amazing grandchildren Kayson & D’ior.

I joined the Future Coaches 302 program as Secretary / Treasurer / Volunteer because of my grandson Kayson’s passion for basketball and trying to find a program for his age where he can learn the fundamentals. I met Coach Rodney about training one on one and he told me about his passion for coaching and wanted to start a league for children. Now here we are!

Destrian Wells is Asset Management Executive, Founder and CEO of
Destrian Wells Consulting, LLC and active board member multiple Non-
Profit organizations. He is a graduate of Money Management Institute
Pathway to Leadership, a member of the National Association of Securities
Professionals, past President of Union Lodge #21 PHA Masonic Lodge of
Delaware and Co-Host of the Breadren Podcast. His passion for people and
service led him to launch Destrian Wells Consulting, which focuses on
providing access to resources and developmental tools for the next
generation of business, civic and social leaders. Wells is an active member
of his local community and surrounding areas and has led the creation of mentorship programs with
local schools to help create environments for under-served youth facing adversity with a network of
volunteers to foster meaningful and monitored mentoring relationships, with the goal of developing
positive relationships that contribute to enhanced educational and socio-economic opportunities. He
credits his mother for instilling into him the personal mantra of Strive for Excellence, which is the
cornerstone of his daily interactions and approach to his family, friends and clients. He earned
bachelor’s degrees in both Finance and Sales & Marketing from Tuskegee University. He is originally
from the historic city of Selma, AL, but now resides in the Greater Philadelphia area with his beautiful
wife Eleeseia and their highly energetic sons, Dallas and Dawson.
